"Don't knock, it's always open" is the motto of the new Can Can Alimentación in Santa Gertrudis in the heart of Ibiza. In the small restaurant with just four bar stools, four tables inside and almost twice as many on a sunny outdoor terrace, a display case with Italian specialties and a large selection of (natural) wines, dolce vita meets relaxed Ibiza vibes. (Open) wines and Italian snacks are the culinary concept, a relaxed atmosphere and incredibly warm hosts are the recipe for success of this new Ibiza insider tip. Here you feel like a beloved regular, like an old friend of the family from the first visit - and not just when tequila is served as chupitos (shots on the house) and you toast with other guests at the bar.
The menu includes bruschette (12-15 euros), focaccia (15-25 euros), various Italian cheeses and sausage and ham specialties from prosciutto crudo to truffle mortadella to gorgonzola, taleggio and scamorza , a burrata with or without ham or salmon (20-25 euros) or small warm dishes (22-30 euros). The pistachio cream, which comes with mascarpone and cantucci (10 euros), is a poem!
The products come from three main suppliers in Piedmont, Asturias and Salamanca, and from local producers in Ibiza. You can also take the specialties from the display case home with you, as well as the wines, pickled vegetables, pasta and various oils.
Giulio Baroni and his newly fiancée Melania Pintori have fulfilled their dream of owning a restaurant together: Can Can. The two emigrated from Milan to Ibiza in October 2023 after travelling to Ibiza for 15 years, mainly in winter. With Can Can opening at the end of March 2024, the island has gained an uncomplicated meeting place in the heart of the island. You will regularly find me here for an aperitif!
